It was especially weird cause since it was a private airport owned by a few crusty rich dudes, it was a ton of old, rich dudes with a lot of money to spare and very few fucks given about how they treated women (or anyone outside their circle) in general. You usually either had the older pilots who would go out of their way to make sure I was treated well and doted on me, the ones who acted like I must be stupid cause boobs, or the ones who were just flat out creepy to me cause that's how their world worked as far as they were concerned. It's such a bizarre feeling to have one end of the spectrum that's super nice dudes who crack beers with me in the hangar and think it's awesome I wanted to spend my time around planes and were happy to teach me or let me co-pilot and then the other end that was just totally sexist and entitled douche canoes who would puff up and brag about their planes like I had no idea what was even happening. (and the "hugs" thing. that happened A LOT.)

One of my favorite older pilots asked me to teach him how to selfie and so I obliged. His nickname is RB, for rotten bastard, and he's notoriously unpleasant to people he dislikes (so, most people) but still calls and texts to see how we are and would wait till I was off the clock to present me a margarita. It's kinda telling that one of the more down to earth, respectful pilots I have ever met was nicknamed Rotten Bastard.
