    Just an FYI: I had a hit rejected this weekend. It took two emails from me to hear back from the requester (I was super polite in both), and she said it was rejected because they received two submissions from the same GPS location.

    Since I did this on my laptop and not a mobile this had me scratching my head. The requester asked me if I could explain that, and I was honest in my reply that I absolutely couldn't. I offered to send her screenshots of my dashboard or whatever she needed to prove that I wasn't a bot or scammer. She was nice and said from my emails she can tell I am not either of those, and reversed the rejection.

    I'm not at home to check my laptop but I just checked my work computer and holy hell there is an setting for Windows to send your location! It's off at work but I will be checking at home on my laptop asap and turn that off if it is on. I don't want my location blasted when I'm online!! (And I don't want Windows sending out my kid's location on his computers, either!!)

    Sorry so long but this is the first I've heard about GPS tracking vs. IP Address, and thought I'd share with y'all.

    They are probably geo-locating off of IP addresses and not through a windows thing. IN order for a website to get access to your location it needs to get your peromission.

    IP addresses are a bad idea, but...see the discussion about audio robot checks above ;)

    "Last week the academic community was shocked when a researcher noticed the GPS data from one of their studies on Qualtrics had multiple submissions from the same GPS location. This went viral and everyone started checking their past studies to see if they had similar data. The assumption quickly spread that there were bots completing studies on Mturk. Numerous posts on Facebook, NewScientist, and Reddit have been fueling the fire. It is highly unlikely that half of the Mturk participant pool is bots as some are suggesting. It is more likely these are inexperienced researchers posting posting numbers from 25-50% are Bots."
