    rip your return rate.

    btw I have ~1600 accepted hits right now but you won't need to go through all of them because the working hits should be gone for the most part.

    Because more good ones are buried in there. If you have the time don't give up.

    but how do I know when I hit the good ones, outside of having to go in and check every one I catch/return?

    either that or just open a few every once in a awhile to check.

    It is a shitty situation but I've made bank off of these today so if you can get it working it is worth it.

    @ChrisTurk

    I can't actually think of a time besides those VRAPIs and this batch that I have seen the value of going deep into the actual mechanics of working through a batch like this lol

    If all you're doing is accepting then returning every HIT you're not doing anything to improve your odds of having functioning HITs. In fact you're lessening your odds since every minute spent not doing a HIT is time other people are submitting functional ones.

    mTurk has absolutely no idea which are broken and which are functional, so its just serving you random ones from the pool of available HITs. The % chance they are broken HITs being put in your queue (if the HITs are truly broken and its not some network error that people haven't taken the time to diagnose+fix) increases with every passing moment since functional HITs are being submitted. Skipping through the batch blindly isn't going to affect those odds.

    Not speaking out of your ass is probably the most valuable part of understanding mTurk. The rest is ancillary benefits from understanding how the platform works instead of just blindly praying someone else feeds you correct information.

    I actively returned about 1000 or so. They're like 40 percent working

    guess I should go back to banging my head against the wall (ie accepting a queue, seeing if any work, sending them all back and crying; repeat ad nasum)

    It clearly worked for me so I dunno. I mean if CT has actually seen documentation on how it works he is prob right but mturk does stuff oddly.

    Nothing like having a knock down, drag out argument about a lamp in front of your MIL- it used to be her lamp too.

    Actually seems to be more like 70 or 80 percent working. So I think it worked. Thanks @Randomacts

    Returning that is, not skipping
