Earlier today I really tried to find what might be called a 'FTFY GIF' with which to respond.
No such luck! Naturally, I figured the best place to look for an attractive and intelligent young woman
getting 'hosed down' would be under 'wet t-shirt GIF'. As has also been discussed earlier, this was
not quite the right approach. Oh well. It's the thought that counts!

I suspect this may be a bit strange [ ? ], but when I got out of the Army I wrote freelance for a while; did newsstand magazine articles: "Popular Science," "Cycle World," yada yada. (Could *never* break into the newspaper insert "Parade," which paid upwards of $1,500 an article, a LOT of moolah in those days). Anyway, I come pretty close to HATING writing in surveys ........... unless they let me loose on things political, for decent pay, of course.

Parade! When I was a boy, that was the first thing I snatched out of the paper!
On the other hand, looking back at it now, I was young and stupid at the time. (Thank God, I'm now only old and stupid!)
But what I was getting at is that rejection slips from Parade shouldn't give you any 'personal' feelings of rejection.
You're a smart and interesting guy who writes really well. It didn't surprise me to hear that you just can't bring yourself
to successfully write a piece for the 'lowest common denominator'!
