    I made a trip to best buy and the dude was very unhelpful....he looked at for 5 minutes and told me "iT's DeAD"....I'm like thanks genuis.... I knew that. Then he proceeded to tell me I would need to pay $400 for a new one...which I wasn't having any of that!

    I came home and spent 2+ hours on the phone with Apple, two advisors later and got a new phone coming to me for free. :)

    Yea.. you'll get nothing from any retail stores. Sometimes not even the apple store. Its quite well known that they have a big hard on against the right to repair. If anything minor or major goes wrong, the best you'll get is "Buy a new one" and the worst is "not our problem". I'd say ya got lucky on the replacement.

    I'm surprised and very happy it worked out for you :)
