I just saw them last weekend at bourbon and beyond here in Louisville. I've seen them dozens of times but this was the first time I've heard my favorite song live since the first time I saw them in '98

Hey all, Turkopticon noticed the requester that recently did a mass rejection now has a dead website. This makes us think they have skipped ship and workers that still have rejections will not get them reversed. If you do still have rejections from HUMACI, req ID: AGG6KWY35Z8GU, please make sure you have filled out our form so you are included as we pressure Amazon to fix this

 

Does anyone know what causes me to qualify for a HIT but it won't let me accept it because it says I don't qualify? These are the qualifications (and the HIT shows up when I filter by HITs I qualify for):

AWS has replied to our tweet and public pressure is the only thing Amazon seems to answer to, if folks don't mind a heart (reminder others cannot see who hearted anymore, Amazon won't know you did it) and a retweet if you are comfortable. We work behind the scenes non-stop but the boost from workers really helps us put pressure on.

 

Pretty sure this means the requester hard blocked you. But I'm not 100% on this. Either that or you just got that "Address Confirm Qualification" qual and it hasn't updated yet or something like that, but that usually goes away after a few minutes, so if it still says you don't qualify, then I'd say most likely it's a hard block.

That's bizarre, would I still see their HITs and be able to take their qual tests if they'd blocked me?

 

I haven't turked in like almost 3 years now so don't take this as gospel, but IIRC, if a requester actually blocks you through the system (as opposed to just using quals) you'll still see their HITs, but you'll get the "The HIT requires qualifications" if you try to accept them.

 

idk whether their qual tests can be taken or not. but that error thing, I think that means the requester blocked you.

@Jane Doe @malysa do prolific and cloud research have blocks? or how do they do that on those sites? does a worker get an email or any other way of knowing if/when a requester doesn't want them specifically to work on their tasks?

So I was curious and did some digging around, and I'm now 87% sure that this is how it works:

• If a requester blocks you through qualifications (assigns a bad qual, revokes your qual, changes value of your qual, etc), they can prevent you from obviously accepting the HIT, but they can also prevent you from Previewing it too, and they can also even hide it completely so you won't see any of those HITs at all.
• If a requester blocks you through the actual blocking feature of MTurk, then you'll still see their HITs, but you'll get the "The HIT requires qualifications" error when trying to accept them. They can of course both block you and revoke the qual, in which case you'll only see them if they don't hide the HITs from disqual'ed workers.

So basically if you do see a HIT and it says you have all the quals, but when you try to accept it you get an error, it means you got dicked down real good (actually got blocked).
