My daughter slept through the night when she was a month old.

I remember that first night very clearly. I was working a full time job, and so I took turns with my wife to get up during the night. During the week when I had to wake up for work - my wife got up. Weekends when I didn't have to get up early - I got up.

It was a weekend, my turn to get up. She slept soundly all night.

The best part: it was my birthday.

Something happened to Kate!

 

I can say it does get better. I wore my son up until he was vastly too heavy for me to wear. As a single mom, there was never anyone to hand him off to when he was little so that cultivated his need to be near me all the time. (E.g., cooking dinner, kid was on my back in a backpack. Mowing lawn same thing, vacuuming he was in a front carry. If I was in the shower, though, he was in a bouncy saucer for a long time, then when he outgrew that locked in the bathroom with me with a bowl full of cheerios, lol.)

Now, while he still hugs his mama multiple times per day and will every now and again show up in my bed early morning for a snuggle before he gets up, I can do stuff on my own, lol.

I don't actually remember the first night my kid slept all the way through. I think I was too tired to encode that memory, lol.

My kid peed SO MUCH at night that no matter what I did...double diapers, diaper liners, etc., if I didn't change him at least once I had to change all the bedding and his jammies at some point.

He also wanted to sleep with me and would throw his chubby little 2 year old leg over me to make sure if I dared to try and escape his leg would fall off and he would wake up.
