I love when I see surveys that say things like "This survey will take approximately 40-60 minutes and you will be compensated $0.50 for your time." Just makes me want to ask what kind of crack they been smoking.

 

The same stuff that James Billing is smoking.

I work in this field, but under a very different application. We still have lots of bias though and it is incredibly difficult to work around. Imagine a computer just straight up telling you no one day. And I don't mean Windows just not working, I mean putting in instructions and the computer just decides to do something else. The first time it happened was when I really understood that AI is terrifying. First, it's computers that think women coders are mythical, next it's that episode of Black Mirror where the deliveries must continue.

 

I was actually making decent money off his crap initially, had a few surveys that were $2.50+ even and fairly quick, but it completely went to crap. When I try now I end up spending 15 minutes being told I don't qualify for surveys before I say screw it and get my 0.01 payment + 0.14 bonus.

 

I think they think some people do surveys just to "pass the time"

 

I saw one last week that said that this was an unpaid survey and they posted it in the hopes people would feel altruistic.

 

How altruistic of them.

 

There was a requester on reddit saying that part of your payment comes from the satisfaction of doing good and that is somehow better than monetary rewards.

 

Yeah that type of requester can go fuck themselves but the majority of requesters seem to understand how shit works.

 

Theres a whole section of psychology devoted to this very topic just so they can can justify being stingy as hell

 

The power company won't even let you stop paying if you go completely solar.

they even argue that customers that have solar put much more stress on the grid and should be paying even higher rates

You can trade it in for loot boxes in EA games.

 

Where I live they pay you about 1/10 the rate they charge everyone for their power. So they can resell the power you put back on the grid for 90% profit.
