    Personally I'd either reply earnestly or just ignore it entirely.

    Though I also have the fun habit of typing out the incredibly snarky reply that makes me feel good then just ctrl+a / backspace before closing the tab and forgetting about it. Maybe try that.

    Honestly, I'd probably just ignore it. I may be willing to answer an unpaid question or two for a requester that I really like or one that historically has been generous, but I'm not wasting my time if I already was underpaid. I'm not confrontational enough to actually suggest that they make a HIT out of it.
