I work my regular day jobs (2 positions at the same place) for 7.40 and 9.10 an hour

 

Sometimes I'd like to believe I'm actually chatting with a real person when they tell me I am being paired with someone and then they tell you that their favorite food is an axe kick and deadly yugioh cards.

 

Might be worth looking around-the job market has record openings. The Chipolte near me is 16.50/hr for entry positions, no exp. My Grandmother went back to work at the Hospital because she hated staying indoors during lockdown, and they pay her $20/hr to push food carts all day XD.

Walmart and Target are like $13/hr+, and BoA is 18 for reception too, more for managerial.

Yeah, I work at a mental health nonprofit and my housing is actually free which is a bigger value than I made the job sound, but that's just for the 9.10 job. My 7.40 job is working at a peer support center and it's a tough job and should absolutely pay a lot more. I worked during the whole pandemic even though I could have gotten more on unemployment, too. I worked really hard to get out of retail jobs for my own mental health and I love my jobs now, but the pay is just awful. It's a tough situation because to take care of my health and wellbeing, what I do now is a lot better, but I know I could (now) make a lot more at jobs that would make me feel really awful inside. idk. Life is complex

Indeed, housing, dental/vision/health benefits are certainly not to be underestimated-depending on where you're at, that can easily be another 1-2k each month.

7.40 is really low in most places though, even if you are doing minimal work. It's a great time to fight for better for yourself, if you are able to comfortably do so!

 

Thanks this is exactly the motivation I needed to finally break the $10MM/yr mark

 

We actually just got a new supervisor who is trying to get us an increase. She started during covid when we weren't open like normal, but now we are and she is appalled by the pay for the work we do. When I asked my old supervisor in the past, she would always just say "the funds are frozen" (they're always frozen in a non-profit, until they aren't)

Could aim for something higher, like 100 mil.
Doubtful you will hit much higher though while working. Need extensive investments to grow for you.
