A group of unscrupulous Indian turkers I watch on Facebook are complaining about not being able to get verified, "mturk is over," etc.., so I think there is a purge going on, and probably new verification requirements for requesters. Hopefully not too many good requesters are caught in the crossfire and we'll be back to normal soon, minus all the spam.

 

I will take "minus the spam" for sure!....

That explains so much about this week.

Judging by his responses and looking at his reddit post history, I don't think this dude accounts for typical MTurk requesters. I doubt that most serious reqs have whatever issue this joker is having

 

I have seen the occasional batch the past month that helped me a lot, some of them qual'd.. some masters. But surveys have been awful for the most part.

 

I think there are a lot of factors at play in regards to the slowness, all of which make sense. And its definitely been real bad compared to what I had hoped would change with summer being over..

There are new platforms available, some req groups even starting their own like CloudResearch.

I have seen reqs starting to complain about the quality of work in their actual hits, saying they may have stop using MTurk due to quality... and I'm sure this has been steadily happening with a lot of academic reqs.

They also seem to have their own network of communication similar to this forum where they talk about the state of things, share bad worker exclude lists, etc.

I think a lot of reqs are jumping ship, changing requirements, using alternate platforms. And there's likely a huge influx of turkers because everyone is broke, changes in employment, etc.

Then there's probably less students posting research hits as well this year
