I keep seeing people saying this, but it's just not the case. Mturk is not a survey platform, and only a small fraction of the money flowing through it is academic surveys. Academic researchers moving to platforms that are designed for academic surveys is inevitable. Mturk will continue to do what it was designed to do, which is provide large amounts of human data to companies working with machine learning, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, etc...

I get and agree with your point, but, CR is still giving a lot of support for Mturk, even though they have their own platform. Seems like researchers still want to access the large pool of workers for their surveys. To get a more representative sample. I may be wrong.

Since they were TurkPrime, CR has been the trojan horse that constantly abuses the system and breaks rules set by MTurk. Now they're taking people to their platform, which is against term of service.

• Advertising or marketing activities, including HITs requiring registration at another website or group, or building profiles of MTurk Workers for any purpose other than to track performance of specific Workers completing your HITs (e.g., you may not collect demographic information from MTurkWorkers for profiling, marketing, or other purposes)

CloudResearch uses a handpicked group of predictable participants, and many requesters don't consider that real research. They're like the Cambridge Analytica of online surveys.
