Hahaha yep. Totally hear you. The chip away at it method is waaaay better. Don't cause issues if you don't have too! I would definitely NOT mess with something that wasn't continuing to dip.

We're the same with our house re: "feet". We've replaced so many things that now it would feel like starting completely over if we had to do it again!

Agreed on the materials. Except the insulation (which is our biggest problem) but we have a tacked on part to our house that is newer than the original 1854 and it is shite for the most part.

It is pretty interesting to see the ginormous nails and such whenever we have to remove a small section of floor for anything. And the horse-hair in the walls was a trip.
