i have a dot in the bedroom which i basically only use for brown noise and the normal echo in the living room for smart home and music listening and cooking timers.

The only thing that the google home mini has on the alexa IMO is knowledge questions. Trivia and facts and that kind of thing. Alexa's pretty stupid.

 

At Amazons last product announcement they said Alexa will be able to tell when you're annoyed with her. I really want that.

Sometimes I say really rude things to her if she doesn't understand what I want.

alexa is really dumb about separate accounts using the same device.

My girlfriend has the prime membership with the music benefits, so we have to login to her account to listen to music on amazon music prime or whatever it's called.

the problem is - when it's logged into her account - I can't use the smart home stuff that I setup under my account.

It's honestly a pain in the ass having to switch back and forth.

smart home stuff should be available to everyone in the household

yes, but the music part can't be shared.

all that can be shared is prime video and shipping benefits

 

So, like, do you have to tell her to switch accounts then say your password outloud or something?

I have no smart devices. I'm not really but I don't want those in my house. My smartphone is enough for me!

 

That sucks. I knew the smart home stuff didn't carry over, that's why I had to set my parents echo up on my account so they could control the thermostat.

 

no all you do is say "switch to dan's account."

but it's a pain to have to do everytime I want to turn on my robot vacuum
