Watching my alma mater tonight makes me wish I had CTE.

 

The whole story made complete sense after the second issue of Spencer's run. "Character development" has become a meaningless buzzword it gets thrown around so often. Everything about the story made Cap way more than interesting than fight Hydra cell, WWII flashback, fight fascist group, WWII flashback, rinse, repeat.

Cap was boring and there was no "character development" to see. He was the same for decades. Idealistic and stubborn. He was b-list, even c-list character for a long time. His best stories have always been team books since the days of Avengers: Disassembled.

 

If you read the story you'd probably change your tune. It was incredibly well done by the time Spencer finished it.

Who says I haven't? I love Cap. I just did not enjoy the storyline, it felt cheap to me, and the ending was not well done in my opinion. It was so much semantics/hair splitting bs. I thought the entire plot was meant to be really controversial and marketing bullshit that I did not at all like.

I did not like Secret Empire much, but that's just me.
