    I talked to adaaaaam a long time ago, and apparently he got an angel investor to invest some ludicris amount of money into a social site.

    He wanted to bring me onboard to do some of the web development, saying that he wanted to focus on back-end code w/ Python, wasn't as good at Javascript as me, and thought I'd make a good marketer and front end dev.

    Then he decided that it was creepy that I'd done my research on him before contacting him, and cut off all ties with me.

    While Christianity does use metaphors such as Jesus being the light of the world, the persons of the trinity aren't associated with stars/planets/nature in general. The dates of Easter and the crucifixion are nailed down pretty well as in the spring because of the association with the passover (which occurred beforehand), not because of anything the sun is doing. The various reasonings for Dec. 25th are varied, but the righteous man is one of the oldest and imo most likely.

    Incidentally, the identification of Dec. 25 as Jesus' birth goes back to at least 200 AD, whereas the first Saturnalia (the Roman festival around winter solstice) didn't happen until a little before 300 AD.

    The term "growth hacking" makes me cringe, but basically, he wanted to do what I was doing before I started mTurk - finding creative ways to drive large amounts of targeted traffic to a site.

    You've built a site that has helped a lot of people make a lot of money. Who gives a crap what you make in donations? I'm semi-intersted in what you make on turk but that has nothing to do with moral implications just capitalistic greed on my part.

    The reason for Jesus being born on the 25th is the co-opting of other religion's gods/prophets. There are tons of other religious figures that share characteristics with Jesus. It's almost as if they could spread Christianity easier if it aligned with the religions of people they were trying to convert.
