Made me think of this.

 

Really great list.. I think mindset is huge too. Gotta provide value to the Internet and Google will reward you. I've been reading into SEO a bit recently and it amazes me how many people are like "how do I just hack google and get my page #1?"

Like.. my dudes.. y'all use Google, right? You ask that site anything and 9/10 it gives you the most useful answer in the first 2-3 results.

So, provide the Internet with the most useful answer for something. Like you said, preferably something that doesn't already have 500 near perfect answers haha.

Yeah, I guess I don't get the people who are on reddit complaining about working 12+hrs a day on turk making $20.

Like, crowdsurfs have an open qual and no min HITs. Anybody can do ~$6 an hour as long as there are crowdsurfs up, which is most of the time(unless you're still on an 8kB connection because your scumbag cable company refuses to do their job) so any of these people who have the ability to sit and just turk only all day should be able to do $50 most days. In fact, if you are that dedicated to crowdsurfs you're probably making an extra $5-10 a day on their bonus program, plus more when they run their happy hour deal, and in any case you can use them to grind up your numbers while still getting paid something.

This week I did ~$500, which obviously isn't great, but if it's achievable for me with my circumstances then anybody whose circumstances allow them to dedicate more time and effort should be able to do at least as well.

 

I'd start thinking about things that people say when they're having a good time, like:

What a rush,
Let's do that again,
This party is fiya,
etc.

Maybe think along the lines of things that people have fun doing, cool things people see/hear/feel at parties, etc.

You want to just sorta latch on to someone's pre-existing positive sentiment for having a good time, and get them to anchor those good feelings to you, kinda how like people reminisce fondly over shitty songs from back in high school just because they happened to be playing when they got laid for the first time by their high school sweetheart or whatever.

 

Didn't you also do that on dialup internet?

 

The guy JMN (holy crap, I remembered his name) on the Associates forum that I mentioned earlier, who made half a million in affiliate income in a year and gave out tips until someone found his site through his advice, would rank high for several long-tail keywords by posting long Q&A pages full of unique content that people were trying to find answers to.

 

Yeah, 16kB, split ~8/8 when I'm not home.

 

I've had a business website for 7 or 8 years. I've worked my ass off on it, will rank local (only need local rankings) on the first page and then BAM Google changes their fucking algorithm again. Work your ass off to get it ranked again. Rinse, repeat. I HATE IT!!!!

 

Yep. Worth reiterating: SEO is a pain.
I was really good at SEO in 2014.
Haven't cracked 2017, though I haven't really tried much yet either.

 

Do you have an ETA of when you will be on modern internet again? Dealing with that sounds super painful.
