See, and the question just posed will now be State's Exhibit B as to the level of my Script illiteracy, when you say how many Pandas do I run, do you mean how many of the boxes do I have>, how many things am I tryng to catch? I try to keep it under 15, but if I'm honest I found myself with upwards of 50 "boxes/hits" I'm trying to catch, coz I am too scared to clear them out, just in case, these are the kinds of poor decisions I'm making with scripts which are ham-stringing me.

I got some words to say but when I quoted the post I saw it was removed. I will leave it at this.

 

It's one thing to "not care what people think", but it's another to legitimately need something valid and supported on a resume to fill in years worth of time. It'd be scary to feel safer putting nothing to avoid being laughed out of an actual job.

Another problem is that requesters and academics are starting to question how valid and moral it is to "support" the platform in light of the article and yeah CT just said that while I was typing but sure I'll repeat it now.

I also have a HUGE personal problem with the article LITERALLY comparing it to slavery.

Ok that's your first mistake and the same that everyone makes when learning. You only want AT THE MOST 5 running at any given time trying to catch a hit.

 

I didn't really put a lot of thought into any of this before now but your first point is kind of my subconscious thought process developed over the years. Any change or discussion pertaining to mturk usually ends up being disadvantageous to us, the core group of turkers.

As far as the academics getting all up in arms about it, as long as they conduct themselves ethically I don't really see what their concern would be. They post work on the same platform as Jon Brelig. Big deal. IBM and Google post jobs on Indeed; as does a whole host of scam jobs.

Yep, definitely go for hit forker's include list. That way, you'll get a notification and can press the P/O ("panda" or "once") button to get to work. Right now, I'm sure it's impossible to catch anything.

Your pandas are basically looking for the hit every x seconds on an interval with the other pandas. So, it'll cycle through Panda1, Panda2, Panda3, Panda4, etc one at a time. So, say your Panda18 is currently firing, and Panda3 became available, someone who only had Panda3 searching will catch it, while you're still cycling through Panda19, Panda20, Panda21, etc. Does that make sense? I have such a bad headache lol
