Use scripts (you don't need to make your own) and learn the hours that work the best.

 

Don't have this mentality. Very few of the forums' regular scripters had much, if any, JS experience before self-teaching for mTurk. Don't think that you can't write your own scripts; think about HOW you can write your own scripts, then Google the shit out of it. Stack Overflow is your friend.

 

Or at the very least just use the scripts that are out there already.

This ^^^, to some extent. @turk_it if you're not already using a monitor (like Overwatch or HIT Monitor), a panda agent (like Panda Crazy or Turkmaster), and a scraper (like HIT Finder or HIT Scraper), start there.

Here's what I've done; think of ways that mTurk could be better. Short of PREs, queue size, or other things on Amazon's end, there's pretty much nothing you can't do. So figure out what you want to do, then start Googling how to do it with a script. I've had silly ideas turn into 300+ line scripts that contribute significant amounts to me PE. If you think something can be better, it probably can.

 

You're right on the "mentality" part. I actually needed to hear that. Just thought writing scripts on the mac was a no-go because I'd have to run Parallels to do so and that just slows everything down, negating the usefulness. Trying to do what I can with Keyboard Maestro. Thank you for the advice though! Always appreciated.

Look on the left side of the screen. Click on the hammer/wrench and set your preferences.

 

Alternatively, go to your user preferences ( https://turkerhub.com/account/preferences ) and under the 'NSFW Preferences' you can choose to replace images/media with links instead of being embedded. I'll probably add this to the toolbox as well (much like live update features being added there).

ETA: make sure you set it to 'all the time'

 

Thanks for that info, yes I use HS and PC mostly. I do have OW set up but I have PC set up to notify on jobs and certain requestors. So I'm kind of confused on what to use OW for.

 

Each requester you watch with PC is taking up a page request. Same with TM. Overwatch can keep an eye on dozens, hundreds even, and refresh every few seconds. It's really the best way to watch requesters.
