    Sometimes you're unbearably obnoxious because of some cognitive distortions you need to work on. ;p I mean that in the nicest way, but what you wrote was borderline insulting to the turker community in general.

    I really think the masters qual doesn't mean much. It's a way for amazon to push an extra fee to the requester. Those same requesters could run their own qual, give it to us, and pass the few extra pennies on to the workers that they have personally selected. Instead, amazon is like, hey give US that extra money instead because we have all these people that are good at everything...

    I'm guessing there are some masters out there with more rejections than some of the newer people on this forum have submitted.

    It is... I agree, it isn't just those two factors. I'm just saying that parsing Amazon's guidance is a bit off, as we know, according to the TOS of this site, that they don't really want to Easter Egg us into knowing what Master's requires.
    They just don't want the Ecosystem to know.

    I got it in 2015 (nearly?)the same day I reached 10k hits. I only did surveys, transcription and buzzfeeds back then lol. I only had like 3 rejections.

    A lot of the stat-based whining seems to me like kids in Overwatch that say "Waaah, we lost. And I was the best player on the team. Look, I got a gold medal for damage."

    But then what you don't see in the stats is that every last point of that "gold damage" was absorbed by a shield, and that in spite of all that damage, most of it was healed and the player never got a kill. Or maybe they got a bunch of kills when the rest of the team was dead, but they couldn't get key kills when everyone was alive and pushing and it really counted.

    Or in Planetside 2, leaders for the elite outfits used to pick people largely based on headshot rate, since they figured that implied accuracy. The other criteria was KDR. But then some people would just pad the headshot stat by getting closer to their targets, and deploy out of unfavorable fights to pad their KDR.

    It can take a lot of context and perspective to interpret stats effectively, and I'm so accustomed to everyone thinking they "know" what stats "prove". It's incredibly irritating to me.
    Good thing I'm here then, because nobody else would dare speak any truth that might insult someone. Encouraging effective thinking habits is much more important to me than sparing someone's feelings.

    I'm glad that having achieved masters you now understand its secrets intimately :p

    Pretty much everyone agrees it's not just number of hits + approval rate. Most agree it's some ugly combination of everything that's been mentioned, largely because that's what Amazon says.

    The only thing we're disagreeing on is that variety is the most important criteria, because that doesn't make sense based on a multitude of statistics we have on people who have made masters. There are plenty of people with low numbers that made masters, low diversity with masters, low earnings with masters, low tenure with masters, and vice versa of the above, sometimes all at once.

    It's not unreasonable for someone to interpret this as masters being random, though perhaps unlikely or misguided. I happen to think it's a lot more streamlined than before, but as I said previously, we don't and can't know precisely what makes you a master so on the whole it's just better to focus on improving your workflow and tasks on a personal level and let masters come if it will.
