I hope he grows out of it. He can't have baked goods with eggs or dairy either Owning the bakery is sorta how we found out about his allergy. He would swell up so often, we had to get him tested.

 

That's really interesting about your other son's allergy as a baby. I had a lot of drama as a newborn and nobody really knows what happened to me before my dad got full custody of me, but when he did, I was covered head to toe in a rash and as sick as a dog and never cried. We never figured out what that allergy was but I was fine until I hit my mid-20s when the dairy stuff started. Now, I'll occasionally get a stress rash on my cheeks, but a little hydrocortisone and antihistamine fixes that up immediately. My boss (a nutritionist and chiropractor) has said something about how we think of puberty and menopause as major changes, but there are also smaller ones along the way, which explains developing or losing allergies, tastes for things, growth spurts, maturity, mental changes, etc. I'm not sure if there's any science behind it (he can be pretty snake-oil-salesman-y at times lol), but it's interesting to think about.

And you're right, it's so absurdly expensive, especially since half of it tastes like garbage haha. That's such a bummer, I hope you guys get into a good rhythm with good options quickly. Daiya is definitely hit or miss, I don't blame him, I mostly stick with the GoVeggie slices. I prefer almond milk too because it has the closest consistency to regular milk. Rice milk isn't bad but it's thinner than skim milk, and I can imagine that not being too appetizing for a kid.

I forgot to also add that @knottypiper is a dietary superstar and also as sweet as pie, so she can help too!

It is interesting. I don't know if it's an allergy, but I can't eat ice cream or drink milk in the summertime, it almost feels like it curdles in my stomach. (Gross I know) but I can eat it in winter. I don't understand that at all. It's very weird. But other than that I have no allergies. RJ's father has food allergies though, so I blame him.
