I've made a lot of mistakes in life. Drank too much, didn't study enough, once donated part of my bonus on an mTurk survey.

None of them hold a candle to putting a downvote button on an mTurk forum.

I'm glad you asked young one. Take a seat and let me tell you the story of CT, forum admin before he knew PHP/MySQL.

Adam and.. well.. everyone? Got into a downvote war while I did stupid shit like make money on mTurk. Eventually, I came back to chaos, flaming piles of garbage, and a suspicious amount of posts compared to our userbase at the time.

Then my dumb ass went through and started removing every. single. downvote - one by one, by hand. I had to load 2 pages for every single one.

I got through all the ones on the regular members. Then I got about 3/4s of the way through on Adaaam and then noticed the count started going BACK UP. Surprising absolutely no one but me who had never heard of him before (because hes one of those regular rotation Turkers who manages to get banned from EVERY community somehow)

Gave up, banned him. Thought that'd be chill. Then Jagd pissed off some random lurker who went through and downvoted like 50 of his posts, so I just removed the downvote button itself, left the ratings, and now he sits atop the list as a badge of honor I'm pretty sure.

 

I only feel pride when I remember my downvotes!

I would post that sexy firefighters with rescue puppies calendar again too!
