    I have a friend who lives in North Jersey, near the NY border (near the catskills/Appalachian mountains, there's a section of the Appalachian trail that runs past his house) And every time he has dorritos a bear comes along and ransacks his trash can.

    I know several folks who use them and still run into bears tbh! I also find them HELLA ANNOYING. Have you ever listened to a jingling sound for hours upon hours? The main problem in this scenario was that I was stationary, so I wasn't thinking about making noise like I usually do ( I usually sing, hum, and babble, and I have a clicky thing I play with and generally make enough noise that bears steer clear of me) because I had my head in a map and was deeply lost by myself. It was just a compounding scenario lol.

    Luckily that doesn't happen to me since bears are so rare here...but if I go outside around 10 pm and flip the lights on I have like 10 or so raccoons/opossums eating whatever I tossed in the trashcan. I've just started putting the leftovers outside for them since they are gonna just wreck my trashcan anyway.

    I caught a bear on my dashcam while I was driving through Shenandoah NP.... Only I pulled the card out before turning the camera off and corrupted the video.
