    we've been trying to move away from single-use stuff as much as possible.

    Our newest thing is using beeswax and fabric instead of saran wrap. It makes me feel like a barefooted yoga dude, but whatever. Plastic sucks

    I love being sustainable. We've slowly swapped over to using reusable grocery bags, growing our own veggies (planning to triple our garden this spring), and we've got the chickens of course for eggs. The veggie clippings go to the chickens and any leaves/grass go in to them and they tend to mulch it for me which I use for the veggies.

    I've even started drying and crushing the eggshells to feed back to them for a calcium supplement. The next step I want to do is get some solar panels set up and it's something we've been looking in to.

    I'm a few steps away from being a full-fledged hippie.

    Hey I've been crushing my egg shells with a mortar and pestle too!

    I feed them to my pet worms. I have worms for composting (and hopefully for selling to fishermen who fish by my house come spring)

    Helps reduce the acidity of the food scraps and junk mail I feed them, and gives them gristle to help digest their food (worms have gizzards like birds do!)

    YESSSS! I got the beeswax sheets so I can use them when I proof breads and put things in the fridge! I also got re-usable ziploc baggies for my stock and storing baked goods that I'm obsessed with.

    Do you like the beeswax? This year for Christmas many of my gifts to people are aimed at reducing plastic, especially single use plastic. I just bought my friends a pack of the beeswax wraps, and a roll of bamboo paper towels which are washable and can be reused several times. I was wondering how well the beeswax works.

    I need to get away from saran wrap, so am considering picking some of these up for me. I don't use it often, though, but often enough that i feel guilty.
