I remember a LONG time ago when I when was a young teenager, I went in a store and saw some avocados on sale. These were also commonly called alligator pears. I thought, hmm, a pear. I bought one, walked outside, and proceeded to bit into it (skin and all) like you would a real pear. I'll leave it to you to imagine how nasty it tasted to me.

Thinking about calling it a day and heading to town to shop for birthday and christmas gifts. So slow this morning.

 

My uncle, who lived in Alaska, would eat avocados right out of the skin, kinda like a kiwi. Just scoop, nom. I always thought he was weird (well, b/c he WAS) but there's many times when I'm cutting one up for a salad or whatever and end up just taking a giant bite out of it. I forget how awesome simple things like avocados are until they're too expensive to buy on a regular basis.
