iirc, there is often the option to request a qual but most of the time it's just yelling into a void. It never hurts, though, since every so often I am randomly granted a qual because of a request. I guess it could be a waste of time, so it depends on how it fits into your general turking work flow

The short answer is yes. The reason is that sometimes, albeit rarely, you will catch an auto granted Qualification or a requester may decide to grant it. Most Quals worth having require tests. Those should remain your main focus. But that's just my opinion, others may have differing experiences. You can still obtain Quals that don't have the Take Test option by searching for that requester with the $0 and not qualified options in your filters. If you're lucky the survey that grants that qual may pop up if it is still available.
