To be honest, I have no idea what you're talking about - I'm just low quality content messageing for no reason really. But I respect that you're passionate about this stuff. I appreciate everyone who has a hobby and I think everyone should have something that they really really like. It's what makes people unique and interesting.
It's okay to have opinions, man. But the majority of Americans don't like Nascar. So does that make it suck? Fast and the Furious makes money so they're clearly the best racing movies of all time.
Tbh, when I did low level formula level stuff, almost everyone universally disliked nascar too, or at the very least felt nascar was below formula racing. I'm sure this was influenced by the number of engineers and whatnot I was around, but it's definitely an opinion thing. I will still watch f1 racing, even though I'm not living with a race engineer anymore, I go to drag races and autocross or rally a couple times a year, but I wouldn't be caught dead watching a nascar race. THAT'S JUST THE BIRD THOUGH! If you've never heard of 24 hours of LEMONS though, check that out. It's like 24 hours of Le Mans, an endurance race, but with all beater shit cars and half of them will fall apart completely by the time it's over. It's a clusterfuck and I love it.

Fast and Furious is one of the great motorsports movie franchises. I don't really see any controversy about that. I am sure I've never heard of this. I will check this out. Engineer is not a valid way to dislike NASCAR. I mean, that's cool if your primary interest in motorsport is the mechanics. I'd expect Engineers to not like it, a certain class of them. However, NASCAR builds a 900hp naturally-aspirated, 5.8 liter motor that runs at 8000-9000 RPMs for 3 hours straight, under high load conditions, with a very low rate of failure. And engineers can't argue "Yeah but" because that's nothing more than a Formula. F1 has a formula, can only turn 19,000 RPMs, say, so it's the same thing. Which, I'm not trying to lord it over you Hummingbird, you know I love you. I'm just saying it's not a legitimate objection to the sport based on Engineering. Largely because there is only 1 'no holds barred' motorsport left and they even limited that to 1000' because you can't have Top Fuel cars breaking the sound barrier which they would shortly do if it was still 1320'. Yes, I'm this much of a nerd...
The problem with Nascar is that you don't really need to watch the race. There will be a caution that bunches everyone up some time within the last 15 laps. You can just wait for the race to start, put on a movie, then switch to the race when it's over and see the ending. You won't really miss much except a bunch of cars breaking down or crashing. That is why the amount of passes is not really very impressive, they have to have cautions, so it precipitates lots of changes. In that way it's not comparable to other types of racing, really anything that is done on a road track. I still say that Nascar's road races are way more exciting than the rest. The most impressive part about Nascar is watching the pit crews because they don't get to use 20 people like F1. They have to hit all five bolts and pull the tire in sync with the guy doing the other tire, then run around and do the same on the other side. It's pretty dope to watch those guys work.
