How do you become a referee? Is this an academics only ecosystem? How do you draw from other industries you know nothing about to ensure things are accurate & well understood (you can have 400 baker referees, if they are evaluating a woodworking project it makes no difference)

I've seen people whine on twitter about having their work "challenged" .. is that a per journal process? School? Is there some boxing ring where they send GAs to fight to the death for the paper's honor?

How do we better integrate ourselves into this process? How do I publish something? Do I need an academic institution attachment or just time + knowledge?

Why do they list editors for public contact? What are the normal reasons for needing/wanting an editor's contact information to be available? is it OK to contact them after their post has expired (for instance, the 4 editors of that paper all left the journal immediately after it was published & were replaced)?

Ditto the last 3 for the authors of the papers themselves.

 

Now GPB can correct me if I'm wrong but with enough money I'm pretty sure that you can get anything you want published.
