Don't sweat it, @Randomacts lies like a m***- exaggerates outrageously. Just ask the folks at /r/mturk, they all know it's impossible to make that much.

I'm not exaggerating but I wouldn't expect a newbie to make my numbers either.

I think the main thing was that it had way too many false positives and Amazon wanted those contracts, so they just sold it anyways.

.05% false positives on software that was still in development. The article implies that people care more about how it supposedly invades their privacy (while they probably post on Facebook multiple times a day) more than the false positives.

    It was racial.

If you look at the article, and link through to Wired, you get:

    Then click through to Wired:

Then if you click through to the ACLU, you get a graphic that says 39% of false matches were "people of color", which is one of the most weasly virtue-signal phrases of all time.

Mug shots are disproportionately "People of Color" because they commit more crimes.

Which brings us back to the objection to LE and race, which is the same old argument.

That doesn't necessarily mean the software is defective.

No matter why you think there are more "POC" mugshots (it's because they commit more crime), it would be stupid to think a Rekog system is not going to flag them more.

That's something to legitimately object to. Just because minorities commit more crime, does not mean you scrutinize them more. But that is scary language, and the dishonest ACLU and affluent Elites are not going to say that.

You don't arrest people because they're part of a group that DOES commit more crime. Just say, you dishonest Liberal Elites. smdh

Now, the argument the "employees" and ACLU use is the same-old Ivory Tower white/jewish objection from people who I stared at from outside the window of their comfy cafes when I was homeless. Color me biased, I resent them and their privileged notions.

I am very, very suspicious of affluent tech workers and attorneys claiming to stand up for disenfranchised minorities.

I live in one of the most liberal university towns and one of the largest Law School conduits for the ACLU, which is quite active here. I have also been homeless in this town and among many disenfranchised people, minority, socio-economic, and otherwise.

Googs has a campus here and I don't see ANY of their workers doing ANYTHING about the lower classes in this gentrified fantasy-land.
