I am sorry for your family's loss :(
It is always important to know what you are allergic too. My Mother was allergic to eggs, so for the longest time she could not take it. So when she was able to take the one without the egg protein in it she always made sure to get it from her own DR, not CVS or walmart, just to make sure she was getting the right one.

And that's why it's good for all of us who won't have this reaction to the shot or who aren't immuno compromised, or have issues that prevent us from getting the shot should get the flu shot. To protect people like your husband from getting the flu as best we can protect (depending on the efficacy of the current vaccine, which is never perfect since it's a virus that mutates yearly, but it's a helluva lot better than nothing).

The flu kills, too, so no one wants it. And if it doesn't kill you, then you feel like you want to die for a good week or so (at least in my experience).

I'm really sorry his mother was allergic to something in it and they didn't know. That's a shitty way to go, and a shitty way to lose a parent (not that there is a GOOD way, but you get what I mean).

The crazy thing was, she was a nurse and had them before, but they changed to formula and she went at lunch with another group of nurses to get one since they worked in a nursing home (super important to have one) and she was in the hospital before her shift even ended. Our primary care doctor isn't willing to bet my husbands or daughters life (obv share DNA with mother) on the fact that the formula is right this time, so it's a no no for them. That being said, we do take precautions and don't go around babies or elderly this time of year.

He was only 16 to, so you can imagine how hard it was for him. I agree with this. I also agree with being courteous and cautious if you can't get the shot. Don't run around spreading shit just cause you can't get the flu shot. That's crap behavior as well.

We don't know, and never will know, why my daughter died.

But my son's pediatrician, in an abundance of caution, developed a delayed and spread out vaccination schedule for Kiddo just to be on the safe side. Not all the other pedi's in the HMO agreed with him, but Kiddo ended up with all the vaccines just on a slower, and more spread out, schedule. And he never got more than two vaccines at one time.

Being cautious is good when it comes to things like this, I think.

Kiddo and I both got our flu shots because I'm sure he goes to school with kids who can't get the shot and he said he'd feel horrid if he "carried" the flu to someone and had not gotten the vaccine.

I absolutely love doctors that take into account the history. We did the same with my daughter. She has received all her vaccines (other than the flu shot), just on a delayed and slower schedule, and with some precautions put in place beforehand just in case.

Kiddo opted into the HPV vaccine, too, in large part to protect his future wife. He knows that type of cancer in males happens but it's more rare, and he would like to avoid that for himself, for sure, but also said that when he finds the right woman he wants to be able to tell her that he always knew she would come along and that he has done everything he can to protect her from getting that type of cancer by getting the vaccine.

I found that incredibly sweet of him to think of at such a young age (this was when he was 14).

But Kiddo ain't gettin' no girl any time soon with the haircut I just gave him.

    Whoops.

He likes his hair really short (2 on the clippers) and is EXTREMELY picky about the hair around his ears, which is EXTREMELY difficult due to the skull bones to clip to a 2, so I have to trim it up with no comb on the clippers. I was doing my best and slipped and whoops...bald spot behind the right ear.

he now has the hair cut really high over both of his ears to try and hide it. Thank goodness school is out for three weeks. it should be fine in a week or two, but for now, he clearly has a Mom Haircut. (Normally I do a fine job!) :emoji_joy::emoji_grimacing::emoji_scream:

This was all me. Kiddo was still. But I know he'll sit there when I say I'm done and pull all the hairs out from his head with his fingers to show me they're longer than a 2. And me saying I just can't get close enough isn't good enough. Well, NOW HE CAN'T Grinch! Ain't no hair there to pull out and show me it's too long.

:emoji_joy::emoji_joy::emoji_joy: Well he got what he wanted right?

To be fair to my husband, he always wears a hat, and nobody could see it but me when he was home so I could laugh. He's purposely obnoxious to me a lot, so it was my turn dammit.
